NISO Voting Member Ballot: Approval of Proposed New Work Item, Standardization of ISOSTS

This ballot was open from July 2 to July 31, 2015. It was to approve a proposed new work item to standardize "ISOSTS," a specific tag set used for standards publishing, and link it officially to JATS (ANSI/NISO Z39.96-2012 JATS: Journal Article Tag Suite), a widely used specification which defines a set of XML elements and attributes for tagging journal articles and describes several article models. The proposal was approved by the Content & Collections Management Topic Committee on June 26, 2015.

In order for this item to be approved so that a Working Group can be formed to pursue this work, a minimum of 10% of NISO's Voting Members must express interest in this new work item.

The ballot was passed with 29 NISO voting members approving it, no negative votes, and 4 abstentions.  There was one comment from The Institution for Engineering & Technology (IET), who abstained.  The response to this comment can be found here
