Todd Carpenter noted on Twitter that the @CopyrightOffice had issued this notice of inquiry (NOI) in the Federal Register regarding copyright and artificial intelligence (#AI) The Office is studying copyright law & policy issues raised by generative AI assessing whether legislation/regulation might be warranted. Issues include use of #copyright works to train #AI models, appropriate levels of transparency and disclosure with respect to the use of copyrighted works, legal status of AI-generated outputs, and appropriate treatment of AI-generated outputs that mimic personal attributes.
