Dr. William Gunn is the Director of Scholarly Communications for Elsevier, a global information analytics business specializing in science and health. Dr. Gunn attended Tulane University as a Louisiana Board of Regents Fellow, receiving his Ph.D in Biomedical Science from the Center for Gene Therapy at Tulane University in 2008. His research involved dissecting the molecular mechanism of bone metastasis in multiple myeloma. After graduation, he left academia and established the biology program at Genalyte, a novel diagnostics startup, then joined Mendeley, where he worked to make research more impactful and reproducible. He continues this work today at Elsevier, and is an expert on altmetrics, reproducibility, and open access.
