Godfrey Rust is a Director of Rightscom, the UK-based rights and metadata specialist consultancy. His current activities include being technical co-ordinator for the Linked Content Coalition, metadata co-ordinator for the EC-funded Rights Data Integration project and a member of the newly formed UK Copyright Hub partner board. He has over thirty years experience of information management in media and copyright, including managing the UK pop music charts, building the UK National Discography, being data services director for the UK music copyright societies, being the original technical lead of the copyright societies’ Common Information System and of the <indecs> framework, as well as data architecture work for commercial clients. He has contributed to many content standards and collaborated on a number of bibliographic projects including the RDA/ONIX Framework for content categorisation, which forms part of RDA.
