Event Sessions
Friday, June 21, 12 Noon - 4:00 pm, Twelfth Annual BISG-NISO Forum, The Changing Standards Landscape
At the National E-book Summit hosted by ASCGLA during the ALA 2018 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, a number of themes provided structure for participants’ discussion of how best to ensure the connection between users and the e-books they seek. As noted in the final report of that Summit, suggested areas for cross-sector collaboration included licensing models, accessibility, metrics, support for systems interoperability, and issues associated with unobtainable materials.
Where does the information community stand today in furthering a robust strategy for e-books? Where are emerging opportunities for the various stakeholders? What are the practical challenges? Attend the twelfth NISO-BISG Changing Standards Landscape forum to hear from a spectrum of industry practitioners on the collaborative efforts underway to ensure that your patrons are making the right connections to e-book content they seek.
Confirmed Speakers (in alphabetical order) include:
- Rachel Comerford, Senior Director of Content Standards and Accessibility, Macmillan Learning
- Mitch Davis, Chief Business Officer, BiblioLabs
- Kevin Hawkins, Asst. Dean, Scholarly Comm. & Interim Head, LRSS, University of North Texas
- Kara Kroes-Li, Director of Product Management, Ebooks, EBSCO
- Hugh McGuire, Executive Director, Rebus Foundation

- Eric Swenson, Independent Consultant
Technology has the promise of improving the user’s reading experience in the digital age. Attend this event and engage with a spectrum of industry professionals and organizations, each deeply invested in the production, discovery, and use of ebook materials.
