Open Teleconference November 2019 - SeamlessAccess.org

Open Teleconference

The November NISO open teleconference will be Tuesday, November 18th at 3:00 PM Eastern time. The call is open to everyone! Our topic for this month's Open Teleconference will be SeamlessAccess.org, an initiative that builds on the NISO Recommended Practice resulting from the Resource Access in the 21st Century (RA21) initiative.

Discussing SeamlessAccess.org will be NISO's Executive Director, Todd Carpenter, and Director of Strategic Initiatives, Jason Griffey.  There will be time for questions and audience discussion, too. We hope you will be able to join us!

All NISO Open Teleconferences are open to everyone!

Seamless Access is the new, convenient way to access digital scholarly content and services that builds on the guidelines resulting from the Resource Access in the 21st Century (RA21) initiative. It sets a standard for digital authentication based on a single sign on through your own home institution. The SeamlessAccess.org service is designed to help foster a more streamlined online access experience when using scholarly collaboration tools, information resources, and shared research infrastructure. The service promotes digital authentication leveraging an existing single-sign-on infrastructure through one’s home institution, while maintaining an environment that protects personal data and privacy.

SeamlessAccess.org is now in beta testing, and will spend the next 12 months working to implement the RA21 Recommended Practice as a service while evaluating and learning from the implementations as they go live.  The first of these beta services went live just this month on Nature.com courtesy of work done by Springer Nature.
