Open Teleconference December 2022 - STS: Standards Tag Suite

Open Teleconference

STS (Standards Tag Suite), recently updated by its NISO Standing Committee as ANSI/NISO Z39.102-2022, is all about interoperability and exchange of standards data.  STS defines a set of XML elements and attributes -- structures to encode both the normative and non-normative content of standards, adoptions of standards, and standards-like documents. The intent of STS is to preserve the intellectual content of standards independent of the form in which that content was originally delivered.

STS is also a derivative of JATS (ANSI/NISO Z39.96-2012 JATS: Journal Article Tag Suite), a widely used specification for journal articles and maintains an official relationship so that JATS updates will also be reflected in STS, easing processes for any publication operation that may have adopted both.

Bruce Rosenblum, VP Content and Workflow Solutions, Atypon, and Robert Wheeler, Director, Publishing Technologies, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) will join NISO Associate Executive Director Nettie Lagace to discuss STS and how it advances standards publishing and interoperability of standards content.
