Preliminary Program for NISO Plus Global/Online Now Available

The 2024 NISO Plus Global/Online conference (September 17–18) is just over two months away! As with all NISO Plus events, the focus is on identifying problems in the scholarly ecosystem that the community can solve together, and the format will foster conversation during the sessions, empowering attendees to be a part of any solutions that might emerge. And as the early bird registration deadline (August 9) approaches, we are excited to announce that our preliminary program is now available.
Proposed by members of the community and reviewed and selected by the NISO Plus 2024–25 Planning Committee, sessions for the two-day, fully virtual event reflect a wide range of interests and concerns in scholarly communications. The program covers persistent identifiers and metadata; emerging technologies and AI in scholarly publishing; research integrity; open research and open research infrastructure; open data; and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in scholarly communications. With speakers representing libraries, publishers, and service/scholarly infrastructure providers from around the world, the meeting offers a variety of perspectives on challenges and opportunities in the global information community. And the meeting will be held in two time blocks, allowing for live participation across multiple time zones.
The NISO Plus Global/Online program will also feature keynote addresses from information community leaders like Ginny Barbour, editor of the Medical Journal of Australia, Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology, and advocate for open research and research integrity. Special sessions will provide updates on current NISO standards projects. Check our NISO Plus blog regularly for updates on programming, speakers, the conference social event, and more.

Tickets start at just $49 for students, attendees who are unemployed, retirees, and those in low- and middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank). There are also discounts for groups: If your organization is sending five or more people to the conference, the early bird rate is just $129 each for NISO members, or $179 each for non-members!
