ISO 15801:2026 — Document management — Electronically stored information — Requirements and guidance for trustworthiness and reliability
Technical Committee: ISO/TC 171/SC 1
“This document specifies requirements for and guidance on the implementation and operation of processes and systems to manage, store and provide access to electronically stored information (ESI) in a trustworthy and reliable manner. Such ESI can be of any type, including “page based” information, information in databases and audio/video information. This document is intended for any organization that uses processes and systems to store trustworthy ESI over time. Such processes and systems incorporate policies, procedures, technology and audit requirements that ensure that trustworthiness of the ESI is maintained. This document does not cover processes and systems used to evaluate whether ESI can be considered trustworthy before it is stored or imported into the system. However, it can be used to demonstrate that, once the electronic information is stored, output from the system will be a true and accurate reproduction of the ESI.”

ISO 20271-2:2026 — Document management — Reference model for long-term preservation of textual documents Part 2: Fundamentals
Technical Committee: ISO/TC 171/SC 2
“This document specifies fundamental concepts of the reference model for textual documents and provides guidance to support long-term preservation from the perspectives of its five layers. It defines: the layers that constitute the reference model for textual documents; the types of elements incorporated within textual documents; property types associated with textual documents; classifications of properties by type; and properties inherent to textual documents relevant to long-term preservation.”

ISO 22028-5:2026 — Photography and graphic technology — Extended colour encodings for digital image storage, manipulation and interchange Part 5: High dynamic range and wide colour gamut encoding for still images (HDR/WCG)
Technical Committee: ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 32
“This document defines a set of colour image encodings for use in storage, transmission, and display of high dynamic range and wide colour gamut (HDR/WCG) digital still images. It defines the colour encodings, the mandatory and optional metadata, and the reference viewing conditions for HDR/WCG images.”

ISO/IEC 24216-1:2026 — Information technology — User interface requirements and guidelines on avatars Part 1: General
Technical Committee: ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 35
“This document provides requirements and recommendations for creators, designers, producers, exhibitors and distributors of user interfaces using avatars in their systems, applications and contents. This document defines the term “avatar” and provides a categorization of avatars based on their presentation and function. This document also refers to considerations of ethical and usability aspects in the design, distribution and operation processes of avatars. This document applies to all fields of information technology that use avatars in their content, including entertainment and business applications in virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, cyber-physical systems, metaverse and interverse.”

Group Note Draft: Threat Model for the Web [W3C]
“The Security Interest Group has published the first draft of a Group Note titled Threat Model for the Web. This document describes the Threat Model for the Web and include the Web Security Model and may include the goals that have not yet been achieved across the whole web platform, but which will still be applied in reviews of new and changed specifications.”

Mission Accessible: Building Better User Interfaces for Everyone [Crossref Blog]
“We’ve recently completed an internal audit of all our user interfaces, and have added a new accessibility page to our website, where you can find the accessibility documentation that we put together as part of the audit.”

Three Discovery Tools: A Comparative Analysis of Retrieval Scope, Ranking Effectiveness, and Topic Diversity [College & Research Libraries]
“Discovery tools facilitate access to large-scale academic collections, yet their retrieval performance varies. This study presents a comparative analysis of three discovery tools—EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS), EKUAL Discovery Services (EKUAL DS), and Piri Discovery Services (Piri DS)—evaluating retrieval scope, ranking quality, and topical diversity index. The iSearch test collection, derived from arXiv articles, was used with predefined search queries. To assess coverage, the full arXiv corpus was queried to identify indexing differences. A total of 63 queries were executed, and retrieved lists were analyzed for relevance and ranking distribution. Expert-evaluated relevant articles were used to assess retrieval accuracy. Ranking was measured using Discounted Cumulative Gain (DCG) and Normalized DCG (NDCG), and topical diversity was evaluated using the Shannon Diversity Index. EDS and EKUAL DS retrieved identical results, while Piri DS retrieved fewer records, affecting its retrieval completeness. Piri DS ranked relevant articles higher, but with broader distribution. While all tools exhibited comparable ranking performance, EDS and EKUAL DS demonstrated greater topical diversity. These findings offer empirical insight into the strengths and limitations of discovery tools and support libraries in improving search efficiency and retrieval strategies.”
