NISO RP-46-2026, Collaborative Collections Lifecycle Infrastructure Project (CCLIP)
Abstract
The Collaborative Collections Lifecycle Project (CCLP) was designed to support and facilitate library-centered community conversations that would deploy recommended practices, middleware tools, and other resources to enable the responsible development, stewardship, and use of library collections at scale, in partnership with industry partners including, publishers, aggregators, service providers and others. As part of this effort, the CCLP has developed a recommended practice, taking into account the various stages of the collections lifecycle in a collaborative environment.
The NISO Collaborative Collections Lifecycle Infrastructure Project (CCLIP) Recommended Practice is a part of the larger project focused on fostering the development of a more robust environment for cooperation centered on the management of library collections. This document proposes governance models, operational practices, infrastructure requirements, metadata frameworks, and collaborative workflows intended to enable libraries and consortia to develop and manage collections collaboratively across institutions. The broader Collaborative Collections Lifecycle Project (CCLP) established a framework for describing levels of collaborations that may exist in the community.
