NISO Announces Appointment of Nettie Lagace to Lead Education and Standards Development Initiatives

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nettie Lagace as Associate Director for Programs. Nettie will be responsible for directing NISO's educational and standards development initiatives. In addition to participation in NISO's strategic orientation, Nettie will contribute to the expansion of NISO's membership and portfolio of projects.
"We are extremely pleased Nettie is joining the team at NISO," said Todd Carpenter, NISO's Managing Director. "She brings a deep understanding of the library and information exchange community and a commitment to building efficiencies in content distribution. Her tremendous experience not only in standards development, but NISO's processes in particular, will be a significant asset to the organization."

Nettie comes to NISO from Ex Libris, where starting in 2000 she served in a number of library and information provider-facing roles, most recently Product Director, working on the SFX link resolver, Verde electronic resource management software, and bX scholarly recommender service.

Prior to joining Ex Libris, Nettie was Web Coordinator and Business Information Librarian at Baker Library, Harvard Business School, and a founding member of the Internet Public Library, University of Michigan. She holds a Masters of Library and Information degree from the University of Michigan.

Nettie has already served within NISO on a variety of working groups and leadership committees. Her contributions, representing Ex Libris, included the SUSHI maintenance group, KBART Phase I, evangelization and education regarding OpenURL in the link resolver community, and the NISO Education Committee.

Nettie began her new role with NISO as one of the U.S. delegates for the international plenary meeting of ISO Technical Committee 46 (information and documentation), held May 2-7 in Sydney, Australia.
