Manuscript Exchange Common Approach (MECA)
Voting Members of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) have approved a new project, Manuscript Exchange Common Approach (MECA), to develop a common means to easily transfer manuscripts between and among manuscript systems, such as those in use at publishers and preprint servers. A new working group will create a NISO Recommended Practice containing an open protocol to support programmatic movement of a manuscript from one publisher system to another’s, among other use cases.
