Jane Bunker Named Director of Cornell University Press

Jane Bunker has been named as the incoming Director of Cornell University Press (CUP). She will assume her new position, as of March 16.

Bunker is currently Director of Northwestern University Press, where she has served since 2010. Under her leadership NUP significantly developed its profile, growing widely respected lists in poetry, philosophy, theater and performance studies, and Chicago regional books, as well as enacting a comprehensive digital strategy. Bunker has also served on the board of directors and a wide range of committees for the Association of University Presses. She previously served as Associate Director and Editor-In-Chief at the State University of New York Press, and holds a BA in philosophy from St. Norbert College and an MA in philosophy from Fordham University. Bunker succeeds Dean Smith, who left CUP in June 2019 to become Director of Duke University Press.
The Press, which celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2019, reports to Gerald R. Beasley, the Carl A. Kroch University Librarian at Cornell. Cornell University Libraries is a member of the NISO Library Standards Alliance.
