As organizations face tighter budgets and changes in stakeholder expectations, the ability to work effectively across institutions is a helpful tool in sustaining long-term resilience. While collaboration is often discussed as an ideal, it is increasingly becoming a practical necessity.

NISO’s upcoming four-week virtual training course, Organizational Resilience Through Collaboration, will explore how collaborative models can strengthen organizations and support long-term success across the scholarly communication ecosystem. The course runs Thursdays from June 4 through June 25, 2026.

Designed for professionals working across libraries, publishing, and research infrastructure, the program offers participants a practical framework for understanding, building, and sustaining effective partnerships. As course facilitator Alice Meadows, Founder and Consultant at Ore Consulting, notes, “In today’s challenging environment for research and researchers, building organizational resilience through collaboration is more important than ever.” Her goal for the course is to equip attendees with practical tools for building and maintaining successful collaborations both within and beyond their own organizations.

The course features real-world case studies from established collaborative organizations. On June 4, Chris Shillum, Executive Director of ORCID, will discuss the opportunities and challenges of stewarding a globally adopted community-led infrastructure. On June 18, Maurice York, Vice President for Library Programs, Big Ten Alliance, will share insights drawn from his leadership in collaborative library and research initiatives, offering another perspective on what resilience through partnerships looks like in practice.

For professionals across the ecosystem, this training series offers both strategic perspective and practical guidance for strengthening collaboration as a core organizational competency. For more information and to register, see our event page, and sign up by May 17 for early-bird rates!
