Alan S. Inouye is director of public policy for the American Library Association (ALA). Based in Washington, D.C., he oversees ALA’s federal policy & lobbying activities and national initiatives. Previously, he was the coordinator of the President’s Information Technology Advisory Committee in the Executive Office of the President of the United States and a study director at the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board of the National Academy of Sciences. Alan earned his Ph.D. in library & information studies at the University of California at Berkeley.
