David Weinreich serves as Director of Policy and Government Affairs, for the International Association of STM Publishers (STM). For the past decade, he has provided strategic advice, messaging development, political intelligence and lobbying to help publishers communicate their positions and goals to the federal government. In support of open science, he has led engagement in response to the 2013 and 2022 OSTP memos on public access and contributed to the development of CHORUS, as well as supported efforts on data sharing and licensing. He has developed STM statements and white papers on AI and research integrity and supports STM's efforts to promote transparency and sharing data about the publishing ecosystem. David is also principal at Weinreich Strategic Group, a consulting firm focusing on science, technology, innovation, and education policy issues. His broad experience includes work in Congress and the Executive Branch on a wide range of issues, as well as faculty positions in mathematics and work in science education and science policy. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics.
