Lorraine Haricombe

Vice Provost and Director

Lorraine Haricombe is the Vice Provost and Director of the University of Texas Libraries at the University of Texas at Austin. She has previously served as Dean of the University of Kansas Libraries (2006-14), where she was Provost’s designate for implementing the Open Access policy at KU, the first public university in the USA where faculty adopted an institutional policy on Open Access.

Haricombe is President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and previously held leadership positions as president of the Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA), chair of the Steering Committee of Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) and the PubMed Central Advisory Board. She currently serves on IFLA’s Academic and Research Libraries Standing Committee.

Haricombe holds doctoral and master’s degrees in library and information science from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign
