Racquel Jemison, Ph.D.

Assistant Director

Racquel Jemison is currently an Assistant Director in the American Chemical Society’s Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Respect (DEIR). As part of this role, Racquel works on inclusion and belonging efforts for ACS volunteers, members, and staff. This includes supporting the various DEIR-related goals of multiple ACS governance committees and divisions, managing updates for the ACS Inclusivity Style Guide, and launching a staff-wide learning campaign on accessibility and equity for 2024.

Prior to working in the Office of DEIR, Racquel managed ACS Scholars and Project SEED in the Education Division and worked for several years at Dow Chemical in Core Research & Development. Racquel holds Bachelor and Doctoral degrees in Chemistry from Morgan State University and Carnegie Mellon University, respectively and certification in Fostering Inclusion and Diversity from the Yale School of Management. Racquel lives with her husband in Arlington, VA.
