I am a natural generalist with about 3 decades of experience as a data scientist, data manager and software and systems engineer developing and managing data and systems in a broad range of scientific disciplines. My research interests include nearly all aspects of data stewardship, data science and informatics with active programs and projects aimed at advancing the state of the art in data stewardship, bringing semantics to polar and cryospheric data, and improving the discoverability, accessibility, and interoperability of data through technologies such as brokering, web crawling, and web services such as OpenSearch.
