Salwa Ismail

Associate University Librarian for Digital Initiatives and Information Technology

Ms. Ismail is the Associate University Librarian for Digital Initiatives and Information Technology for Berkeley Libraries at the University of California.  Prior to joining Berkeley, she served as the Head of Library Technologies at Georgetown University. Before that she was the Head of the Digital Library at Florida Atlantic University. Her portfolio includes library servers, systems and applications, computing infrastructure, web & digital initiatives and services, and ILS & discovery services. Ms. Ismail has an MSLIS degree from FSU and an MBA from FAU and is currently a candidate pursuing a PhD in Computational Social Science at George Mason University. In 2015, she was named a Library Mover and Shaker by Library Journal for being a digital driver. She is very passionate about how libraries, through innovation of library technology and digital services, can play a role as agents of research and scholarship.
