Baltimore, MD -- February 4, 2008 -- The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) is upgrading the status of its quarterly journal to a full-size, education and news publication. The first issue will be available February 15.
Long a valued benefit of NISO membership, Information Standards Quarterly will now be under the direction of a new Editor-in-Chief, Jay Datema, formerly of Library Journal, who has recruited a distinguished Editorial Board, as follows:

  • Marshall Breeding, Director for Innovative Technologies and Research, Vanderbilt University
  • Sayeed Choudhury, Associate Director for Library Digital Programs and the Hodson Director of the Digital Knowledge Center, Johns Hopkins University
  • Helen Henderson, Managing Director, Ringgold
  • Kevin Joerling, Senior Manager, ARMA International
  • Norm Medeiros, Associate Librarian, Haverford College
  • Kristen Fisher Ratan, Journals Product Manager, HighWire Press
  • Alexis Rossi, Project Leader, Internet Archive

Todd Carpenter, Managing Director of NISO, said, "Information Standards Quarterly represents an important structural element of NISO expanded education program. Under Jay's leadership and the guidance of such a distinguished editorial board, the journal will provide in-depth coverage of issues and answers for the entire information community."

The Winter 2008 issue will premiere a column on "The Web of Data" from Ed Summers, Information Technology Specialist, Library of Congress.
