ANSI/NISO Z39.104, Contributor Role Taxonomy (CRediT) is now published!

This working group's output, ANSI/NISO Z39.104-2022, CRediT, Contributor Roles Taxonomy was approved by ANSI on January 14, 2022 and published by NISO on February 8.

Please see the credit.niso.org website for the roles and more information. The CRediT Community of Interest is also open for joining.

Background

NISO launched its work in 2020 to formalize the Contributor Role Taxonomy (CRediT) as an ANSI/NISO standard. A small working group was set up to focus on the 14 contributor roles in the existing CRediT taxonomy.  Now that the ANSI/NISO approval process has completed, a NISO CRediT Standing Committee has been established to provide a forum for discussion and community feedback, support further implementations and use cases for CRediT, and to consider how CRediT can be further developed and expanded to support contributions in a wider range of subject areas.
