Please join us for the NISO Update session at ALA Annual. This free event will provide an overview of current work at NISO and is an opportunity for attendees to hear the latest in standards development, engage with speakers on NISO work, and learn about ways to engage in new projects.

1:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.: Welcome & Overview

1:45 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.: I2 (Institutional Identifiers) Project Update

Learn more about this new working group, including the project goals, the newly developed timeline, and planned steps forward. This working group falls under the BusInfo Topic Committee.

2:00 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.: KBART Update

Learn about the progress of the Knowledge Base And Related Tools (KBART) Working Group, which is a joint project of NISO and UKSG, and their work to develop and publish guidelines for best practice to effect smoother interaction between members of the knowledge base supply chain.

2:15 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.: CORE Update

CORE (Cost of Resource Exchange), which falls under the Business Information Topic Committee's purview, was recently approved as a new work item by the NISO membership, and a call is now active for members of a working group and for those who are interested in being part of the interest group. The group aims to develop a standard to facilitate the exchange of cost, fund, vendor, and invoice information between Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and Electronic Resource Management Systems (ERMS).

2:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.: SUSHI Update

The Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) Protocol standard (ANSI/NISO Z39.93) defines an automated request and response model for the harvesting of electronic resource usage data utilizing a Web services framework. An extension designed specifically to work with COUNTER reports is provided with the standard, as these are expected to be the most frequently retrieved usage reports. Hear an update on the transition from a working group to an advisory maintenance group to maintain and develop associated schemas, coordinate with COUNTER, educate and track on possible improvements, and more.

2:45 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.:Content & Collection Management (CCM) Topic Committee Update

Ted will provide an update of the work of this committee, including DAISY, JAV, the recent Digital Libraries Thought Leader meeting, and more.
